Michael Scott is one of those guys who you want to love but somehow end up hating.
I was feeling both of these in The Office – Baby Shower.
Amazingly, he is completely unaware of his own cruel, juvenile behavior and this is his saving grace — for himself, not the audience! Michael is busy having Dwight pretend to be pregnant so he can get the proper practice to be a father — even though he is NOT the father (it is a sperm donor).
A fun thing about Michael that the show has established is that he’s excellent with children. Perhaps it’s because Michael is so childlike himself, but whatever the reason – Michael seems to be good with babies and kids alike.
In The Office – Baby Shower, Michael’s very real desire to have children makes his cringe-worthy antics downright loveable. And it makes the moment that Jan shows up – with her baby – all the more shocking and truly painful.
